Spotlight - Chiara Condorelli

Chiara Condorelli is an Italian editor, photographer, and writer. In addition to writing and editing, she loves traveling, shopping, watching games, and other fun, adult things that most of us find nice and relaxing (cooking, do you bake?).

Chiara started in the writing industry as a bookshop assistant. One of her tasks was proofreading and editing customers' texts—mostly theses. At this time, she also started working freelance. There are so many things tied into these two seemingly small jobs, but they have allowed her to explore the writing industry a lot more.

When it comes to her work, she typically focuses on sci-fi and horror - "My need to both escape and confront the real world at the same time." She has not felt inspired to write anything for "romantasy" but as a freelance writer, you can write anything for a short 'inspiration'.

Chiara has been self-published and like so many before her, the same ups and downs(I should build a report on that) - owning and 'burdening' the entire process, control, difficulty marketing, etc.

The push to continue writing and editing comes from needing her voice heard - "the need to share what I had to say."

The future holds wonders. She is working on materials for short stories and ghostwriting, while still focusing on her professional career.

As always, advice from someone in the field is always appreciated.

"Do your very best with the skills and experience  you already have, and give yourself time to gain even more skills and experience before writing  what you think will be your masterpiece. The  most important thing is writing with pleasure. If you feel like it like a chore, your readers will  know."
