Spotlight - Caz Redpath

The other point of The Spotlight Project was to find diverse books to add to my TBR. I’m a fantasy/dystopian reader and I’ve been working towards opening my horizons. This book will be the first.

Caz Redpath is only 2 years my senior, residing in the UK. Finding a good time for us both was quite interesting but a wonderful chat nonetheless.

Caz has always loved writing, and much inspiration comes from her grandfather who was a poet. She created book covers on PowerPoint and early writings consisting of ‘rip-offs’ of things she enjoyed. She lived by stories.

Her most recent book is Read My Rights, published on June 14, 2024. It's a beautiful romance with triggers. Has a big theme of overcoming grief and trauma, family coping mechanisms, and many other triggers with a beautiful trigger warning in the beginning.

While first in romance, Caz also writes with suspense and thriller elements but tends to stay away from historical fiction - a lot of different scopes of elements to tackle!

Caz self-published Read My Rights as she just wanted to be published and “wasn’t going to wait around for queries”. Like other self-published readers so far, the pros and cons of this adventure are everything is in your control! As a writer, you have your timelines to follow and you can push it forward or back at any time.

What was the push to keep writing? “I do things in a way that satisfies my younger self.” She goes on to say that this book was important for her because if she read it 10 years ago, it would’ve helped.

Needless to say, healing your younger self is so important in all of our lives.

The writing industry has many people, attractions, and experiences to share. Caz is on social media and interacts with other indie authors. Her little community to keep writing and hold people accountable - everyone is happy to help. With a successful launch date, she’s going to a book con in August in Blackpool!

The advice from this lovely author to others with their debut is focus. “Don’t worry about the end goal. If you get your book to the point you’re happy with, everything will flow together.” She encourages us to check out how other authors are going about with their social media and marketing.

Cas Redpath’s future consists of being a full-time author, stating “As long as I’m still able to keep writing, I’ll be happy.” She’s currently looking for ARC readers for her next book via signups on Instagram! Go to her page and sign up if it is something you are interested in!
